(civil law, fiqh) the child of (a / the) mistaken intercourse : a child begotten in consequence of a mistaken intercourse : This may be the case where a man had intercourse with a : a woman that he mistakenly thought to be his own wife, b : a female member of his own family so closely related to him that is canonically, or by law, forbidden to marry, the confusion having arisen typically as the result of darkness (ie where two, or more married men and their wives shared a room overnight and slept in total darkness either on a regular basis or in one instance only.
